Why Jon Stewart is grateful to George W. Bush

Jon Stewart was not that impressed by the parade of Bush-era pundits and officials who all defended the CIA’s torture practices on Sunday’s talk shows.

Stewart particularly went after Dick Cheney, upon whom he bestowed a number of titles including “The dark curtain from Halliburton.”

“Is Dick Cheney a righteous warrior, or a psychopath?” wondered Stewart—leaving little doubt as to which answer he preferred.

“He’s impervious to doubt,” Stewart exclaimed. “It never enters his mind that the confident plain-spoken pronouncements of truth are oftentimes complete bulls—.”

Consequently, Stewart engaged in a rare moment of appreciation for President Bush: “George W. Bush, thank you for not dying while you were in office.”
