During Sunday night’s Grammy Awards, presenter Gary Sinise took an unscripted moment to thank the men and women fighting for our country. The comment was brief, but heartfelt and well received to much applause.

It wasn’t just those in the audience who appreciated the sentiment. As IJ Review pointed out, in their piece of “Gary Sinise interrupts the Grammys to Deliver a Patriotically Un-Hollywood Message,” many on Twitter were also fans of the shout-out to the troops.

This included Dana Loesch, Monica Crowley, and Carson Daly.

British chef Robert Irvine even sent out two tweets on Sinise’s remarks.

The U.S. Department of Defense also took notice.

Gary Sinise is an actor not only known for his role of Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump, but also for his dedication to the troops. He is part of the Lt. Dan Band and his organization, the Gary Sinise Foundation, describes itself as one which “serve[s] our nation by honoring our defenders, veterans, first responders, their families, and those in need.”
