Get ready America, there just might be another Clinton on the ballot come future elections.
Chelsea Clinton, the only daughter of former President Bill and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, said in an August interview she would be open to running for pubic office, The Washington Post reported. Clinton recently left her job on Wall Street to serve as vice chairwoman of the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation.
“I loved the meritocracy of it and the camaraderie of the trading floor,” she said. “There was one metric for success: Did you make or lose money? I think we need to care about the metrics of success in life, and I’m a pretty competitive person. But whether I made the company $2 or $2 million just didn’t matter to me. I didn’t fundamentally care about making money.”
But don’t expect Chelsea to appear on any ballots until after 2014. In a recent interview with Glamour magazine, the former First Daughter said she and husband Marc Mezvinsky wanted 2014 to be the year of the baby.
“We sat down and said, ‘Here’s what we want to do.’ The first thing on the list was simple: We want, God willing, to start a family. So we decided we were going to make 2014 the Year of the Baby. And please call my mother and tell her that. She asks us about it every single day,” Clinton told the magazine.
But if she does decide to one day run for office, she has at least one fan: her father, Bill.
While appearing on CNN’s Piers Morgan Live last month, Bill told Morgan Chelsea would be a better president than Hillary in the long run.
“Day after tomorrow, my wife, ’cause she’s had more experience,” he said.. “Over the long run, Chelsea. She knows more than we do about everything.”
