Rep. Charlie Rangel believes ‘free’ community college is important for national security

The terrorists will win if Congress does not help make President Obama’s “free” community college proposal a reality. At least, that’s the world according to one Democratic congressman.

Rep. Charlie Rangel (D- N.Y.) said in a recent video, “The president’s recommendation that we have two years of free college is really so important to the security of the United States of America.”

Rangel never quite explains this assertion. Instead, he uses a bunch of political buzzwords to try and say that free community college should be a part of a trade bill.

“Now that we’re talking about the Trans-Pacific Partnership and Transatlantic Investment trade bills now more than ever, we have to make certain that we have our people, and especially our young people, trained to accept these challenges,” Rangel said. “So it’s not just the two years in tuition, it should be part of the trade bill to build America up in technology so we’ll have the skills to meet the challenges.”

He also threw around the term “middle class” a lot and compared Obama’s proposal to the GI Bill.

In Rangel’s world, everyone should ignore the $60 billion price tag on this “free” community college and just say “yes” because of security, terrorism, trade, and the economy.

Oh, and he managed to fit that entire “argument” into one minute and 14 seconds.
