There’s no getting around it: Ron Gould is proud of his political firepower and his target is Obamacare. In an edgy new campaign ad, the congressional candidate for Arizona’s fourth district expressed his displeasure with the president’s healthcare bill by firing a shotgun at it.
In the video, Gould throws a book labeled “H.R. 3590,” better known as “Obamacare,” into the air, racks the slide on his shotgun, and shoots the bill.
The fourth district has traditionally been one of the more conservative areas in Arizona, and includes Yavapai and Gila counties, where the ad began running last Thursday.
Gould’s primary opponents are radio station owner Rick Murphy and current Rep. Paul Gosar.
The ad, clearly meant to resonate with pro-gun Arizona voters, also features a strong gun rights message, and calls for Arizonians to demand a secure border between the United States and Mexico.
The ad, set to country music, features a shot of Gould and his son with their dog and large truck, and also features Gould talking to voters in the district.
But the largest issue targeted by this ad is “Obamacare.”
Before he literally takes aim at the healthcare bill, Gould gives a strong message to viewers: “Government run health care: we don’t want it, we don’t need it, [and] we can’t afford it.”
