Hillary Clinton honored with “public service” award on same day as Benghazi testimonies

U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. Susan Rice wasn’t the only member of the Obama administration honored with an award this week. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was given a public service award on the same day that the Benghazi whistleblowers testified in a Congressional hearing.

On Wednesday night, the Pacific Council on International Policy presented Clinton with its inaugural Warren Christopher Public Service Award, during the Chairman’s Gala at the Beverly Wilshire hotel in California.

According to a statement on the organization’s website, the award is presented to someone who displays “commitment to international affairs, to the highest ethical standards, to promotion of the common good, to equality and fairness, and to government service as a noble pursuit.” The award recipient is also “a role model” to others who might desire to enter public service.

During her award acceptance speech, the former First Lady made no mention of the hearings that had taken place in Washington that day, CBS News reported. Instead, she thanked Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and talked about the cyber security threat from China.

At the time of this article, the Pacific Council on International Policy had not returned request for comment.
