Major university now supplying free menstrual supplies — in men’s bathrooms

Washington State University is now supplying free menstrual supplies for the men’s bathrooms on campus as a way to demonstrate its “commitment to inclusivity.”

While the insanity of this act speaks for itself, the initiative’s aim is to improve “the transgender community experience on campus.”

The program is currently in pilot form, being tested in three restrooms at the Pullman, Wash., campus. Other WSU campuses will also participate if administrators find there are similar needs.

Along with the free menstrual products in male-specific restrooms, WSU will now allow students to select a name other than their legal name for their student ID because requiring one’s legal name on a student ID card was seen as “alienating” for transgender students who use a name different than their birth name. Additionally, all newly built buildings will be required to have gender-neutral, single-user restrooms.

Washington State University did not respond to request for comment in time for publication.
