Democrats refuse to admit Americans did not give them a mandate to raise taxes on the rich

Despite having no evidence to back up its assertions, the Democratic Party is still claiming that the American people sent a”clear” message on Election Day that they believe Congress should raise taxes on the rich.

In an email sent on behalf of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) minority leader and California Rep. Nancy Pelosi this afternoon Pelosi claims, “Voters sent a clear message to Republicans in the election: we must stand up for the middle class and ensure the wealthy pay their fair share.”

She also makes a point of calling the current tax cuts in place for small business owners and families making more than $250,000 a year “reckless.”

The only thing more ridiculous than Democrats’ unsubstantiated claims that Americans voted for Obama because he campaigned to raise taxes on the rich is Pelosi’s claim that voters clearly sent this message to Republicans in Congress. Republicans won the House of Representatives by a landslide for the second straight election. And considering the majority of Congressional Republicans which have signed Americans for Tax Reform’s Taxpayer Protection Pledge, its pretty likely the majority of Americans weren’t giving Congress the green light to raise taxes (on anyone) with their votes.
