Bill Maher finds Trump ‘refreshing,’ believes Hillary Clinton will win because she’s a woman

Liberal comedian Bill Maher actually had some nice words for a Republican presidential candidate this week, calling Donald Trump “refreshing.” But despite his compliments, Maher said that no one on the right or left can beat Hillary Clinton because she is a woman and it is time for a female president.

Maher talked 2016 with the Charleston Post and Courier and said that Trump is reinvigorating American politics.

“Even though I don’t agree with everything that Donald Trump says by far, it is sort of refreshing to have a politician who isn’t always walking everything back and who isn’t completely preprogrammed,” Maher said.

“That’s his genius, that he doesn’t apologize for anything. He’s the king of brushing things off his shoulder.”

He went on to call him the “anti-Mitt Romney.”

“Mitt Romney, people hated him because he was so robotic. Well, if you don’t like robotic, Trump’s your guy,” Maher said.

Despite those colorful qualities, Maher doesn’t believe Trump can get the Republican nomination nor could he beat Hillary Clinton.

“I don’t think anyone is going to beat Hillary Clinton,” Maher said, noting that even his preferred candidate, Bernie Sanders, probably can’t beat her.

“There’s just so much pent-up energy to have a woman president, besides the fact that she is qualified and she’s certainly waited her turn and then some,” he continued.

“Eighty countries have had a woman leader … and I think there’s a big part of this country that’s getting sick of that, and find it embarrassing at this point that we haven’t had a woman leader. And she is, you know, the right person at the right moment.”
