GOP front-runner Donald Trump spoke at Liberty University today. For Trump, speaking at a known Christian university is almost as interesting as Bernie Sanders’, considering some have raised some questions and doubts when it comes to his Christian faith.
While trying to appeal to the crowd, Trump referenced a Bible reference, 2 Corinthians 3:17: “Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.” He referenced the verse though as two Corinthians, rather than the oft-used second Corinthians.

As Politico reported, “the crowd tittered and several of the students audibly corrected him.” While botching the reference, Trump had also said “we’re going to protect Christianity. I can say that. I don’t have to be politically correct,” using a talking point about PC culture he often does when speaking to fans.
No matter how slight or serious the reference was, staff of his GOP rivals were quick to jump on it. This includes the Ted Cruz campaign, whom Trump has admitted he is going after when it comes to the birther controversy because Cruz is polling well.

The Director of Faith Outreach for the Marco Rubio campaign had even more to say.
“Two” Corinthians…
It won’t matter. Nothing seems to matter.

While the move is likely not enough to hurt Trump, it just goes to show that his rivals are looking for any chance they can to point it out when the front-runner messes up.
For some, it reminded them of the movie The Campaign, when Marty Huggins demands Cam Brady recite the Lord’s Prayer:
