Walker, Texas Ranger star Chuck Norris penned an op-ed for WorldNetDaily.com over the weekend warning that Jade Helm 15, a military training mission, might be a plot by the federal government to take over Texas.

Jade Helm 15 is operating over eight weeks in seven states, including California, Utah, and Texas. While a multistate training mission is not unusual for the military, the official government press release states this exercise’s “size and scope sets it apart.” The controversy that raised the brow of many conspiracy theorists was a map that labels Texas as “hostile”.

Norris repeatedly quotes the founding fathers in the piece, reminding all “true patriots” that “security without liberty is called prison” and asks that the federal government be transparent about Jade Helm 15. He refers to their mission as an “exercise,” always in quotations.

Texas official like Gov. Greg Abbot and Sen. Ted Cruz have responded to these warning by Norris and others.

Abbot asked the Texas state guard to monitor the military training. Cruz’s office has reached out to the Pentagon” to ask about the details of the training.

Norris praised both of men in his piece, saying of Gov. Abbot, saying, “Gov. Abbot was struck by a falling oak tree that crippled his legs for life but not his heart, mind and passion.”

He thanked Cruz for asking tough questions saying, “particularly because its ‘exercises’ come too near to my ranch’s backdoor as well, at least according to the map. It’s pretty sad and bad when major military ops are ordered in a large, fiery state like Texas and not even the governor or its senators know the specifics.”
