It looks like British “bully” and CNN host Piers Morgan has met his match.
On Thursday Morgan had Breitbart News Editor-at-large Ben Shapiro on his show ‘Piers Morgan Tonight’ to talk about gun control as part of a series of episodes Morgan is doing about ‘Guns in America.’
You may recall that in the first episode of the series Morgan called the Executive Director of Gun Owners an “unbelievably stupid man.” He then brought on Fox News contributor and gun advocate John Lott only to call him a liar.
Last night, when Morgan asked Shapiro why Shapiro thinks he’s “off the rails on this issue,” Shapiro quickly fired back with, “You have kind of been a bully on this issue.”
“You tend to demonize people who differ from you politically by standing on the graves of the children of Sandy Hook, saying they don’t seem to care enough about the dead kids. If they cared more about the dead kids, they would agree with you on policy,” Shapiro charged.
“How dare you,” Morgan responded.
Shapiro even brought Morgan a copy of the U.S. Constitution in case the host needed any brushing up on the Second Amendment. Morgan offensively deemed it Shapiro’s “little book.”
At one point Shapiro mocked Morgan, doing an impersonation of him degrading his opponents on the show. “You’re absurd, you’re stupid,” Shapiro mimicked in a British accent.
Almost 110,000 American citizens have now signed a petition to have Morgan deported from the U.S, a number that continues to rise, over his attacks on gun rights advocates and the right to carry in the U.S. White House Press Secretary Jay Carney has come to Morgan’s rescue, pointing out that Morgan’s controversial opinions on the Second Amendment are guaranteed under free speech laws.
“Let’s not let arguments over the Constitution’s Second Amendment violate the spirit of its First [Amendment],” Carney said in response to the petition.
Morgan has made a point of baiting conservatives over guns not only on his show, but also on twitter. After last’s night’s show he went after Shapiro and the “right wing masses” over their opposition to stricter regulations on gun sales.
Morgan has had Lott on his show several times before, but no doubt Shapiro nor any of his colleagues at Breitbart will be invited back on the show any time soon after Shapiro stole the show last last night, beating Morgan in the debate in every category.
