Long-shot Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr may not have the kind of money and support enjoyed by Sens. Barack Obama and John McCain, but he does have one thing that the two front-runners don’t — a mustache — and he’s going to use it to his advantage.

“Absolutely, America is ready for a mustached president!” Barr told Yeas & Nays Wednesday. “Who was the last one … Teddy Roosevelt? Or, no, wait was it Taft? Regardless of who it was, yes, America is ready.”

We caught up with Barr after a speech he delivered at the National Press Club on Wednesday, and Barr discussed all things presidential politics.

On Obama: He “has an awful lot of explaining to do in terms of what his policy, what his philosophy of governance is.”

On Barr’s chances: “We only have one real nominee out there, and you are talking to him.”

And we tried to see if Barr thinks he could take down fellow libertarian Ron Paul in an arm wrestling match, but Barr just said, “I haven’t spoken to him about it.”
