Call it the Barack-as-Beatle strategy: Respected Democratic pollster Peter Hart says Barack Obama’s next step should be taking his show on the road to bask in the adoration.

“The Obama campaign would be well served by taking a trip abroad,” said Hart in a breakfast with reporters on Thursday. He envisions a “rally in the capital” in a European or South American country, which would bring out thousands of fans. “It sends a message that America would once again be respected in the world,” said Hart. “Whatever John McCain does, I guarantee you he couldn’t draw a spontaneous large rally” in a foreign country.
Hart also said the Democrats are giving John McCain a huge opening. “Every day the Democrats talk about superdelegates, Florida, Michigan and structural things is a day away from talking about” issues, he said. “The fascinating thing about Democrats is we like to blow the election in August. … This year, we’re moving it up to April.”
