Tom Lemming is widely considered one of the country’s top college football recruiting analysts. His weekly show on CBS Sports Network tracks the top high school prospects. CBS Sports Network will have a special covering national signing day Wednesday at 1 p.m. Lemming will be joined by former UCLA coach Rick Neuheisel and former Illinois coach Ron Zook, along with current coaches and big-time recruits from all over the country. Lemming will rank which schools had the best class on what has become one of the biggest days in all of college football.
Between Maryland, Virginia and Virginia Tech, who will have the best class?
Lemming » “Virginia and Virginia Tech are very close at this point with Maryland still a bit behind. We all know the hard work and great recruiting done by Frank Beamer and his staff. However, the guy who is really having a great year is Virginia’s Mike London. This guy is a tireless worker and has made great strides in the Tidewater area, northern Virginia, D.C. and Maryland. Virginia is going to do very well. As for Maryland coach Randy Edsall and his staff, they still have a chance to have a good class, but it won’t be on par with Tech or Virginia.”
How is this region for high school talent?
Lemming » “I have said for years that if someone could put a rope around the Maryland, Washington D.C., and state of Virginia area and get all the good kids to come to one school, they would have a perennial BCS national title contender. Look at how many athletes from the area end up at schools in the Big East, Big Ten and SEC, Notre Dame, Big 12 and now even the Pac-12. It is one of the nation’s top areas for high school talent.”
Who will have the top class in the ACC?
Lemming » “FSU and Miami are both in the top 10 and by the end of the day Wednesday they could have top-five classes. The Hurricanes’ Al Golden is tireless in his recruiting and is doing a great job of holding on to the kids in south Florida. Miami might just be the feel good story of this year’s class.”
