Most Washingtonians know Charlie Rose. The host of, er, “The Charlie Rose Show” on PBS regularly has guests on to talk about the thing that Washingtonians love best: politics.

Now, Rose would like to get to know Washingtonians a bit better. The New Yorker is renting a small, two-story unattached town house near Georgetown University (“where I can keep my Vespa”) and will stay here a few days a week in order to do face-to-face interviews with his guests for the show.

“Washington is such a great story,” Rose told Yeas & Nays. He also said that his buddy and “political mentor” Al Hunt (Bloomberg News) promised to teach him everything about politics if Rose would teach Hunt everything about basketball. “Sounds like a good deal to me,” Rose said.

Now that he’s in town, who are his dream guests? “George Bush if he would engage for a five-hour series — foreign policy, domestic policy, politics, people and the family.”

Oh, and Gilbert Arenas, too.
