Saturday not pretty picture

For several years, the Redskins have adorned tickets to home games with pictures of their top players. Even with the team’s recent struggles, identifying 10 worthy Redskins players has not been difficult.

Well, until this year.

For Saturday’s exhibition game against the Ravens, the honored Redskins player was none other than wide receiver Malcolm Kelly. In two seasons in Washington, Kelly has more traffic violations (six) than touchdown catches (zero), and he didn’t even appear in the game.

While Kelly’s appearance on the ticket was perhaps appropriate considering the Redskins’ 23-3 loss, the timing could not have been worse.

Three days earlier Kelly failed to appear in court for the latest of his traffic offenses. The next day, Kelly was absent from practice to take care of “personal” matters. After missing all but one day of practice this summer with a hamstring injury, Kelly could be a cut-line casualty.

Saturday proved to be a rough night for two other Redskins who face dates in traffic court. Tight end Fred Davis dropped a pass in the end zone. Rookie tackle Trent Williams was schooled by Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs and ended the night with his arm in a sling (elbow contusion).

If you’re curious which Redskins appear on the tickets for the regular season, rest assured that the list is much more appropriate: Clinton Portis (Cowboys), London Fletcher (Texans), Donovan McNabb (Packers), Brian Orakpo (Colts), Andre Carter (Eagles), LaRon Landry (Vikings), DeAngelo Hall (Buccaneers) and Chris Cooley (Giants).
