Donald: Chosen but unhappy about process

With all the standouts European captain Colin Montgomerie had to chose from to form his Ryder Cup team, there were bound to be some unhappy players when the final three selections were announced Sunday.

One of those miffed, however, was a player who was chosen, Luke Donald.

Sticking up for countrymen Paul Casey (ranked No. 8 in the world) and Justin Rose (No. 23) Donald — a Brit who is ranked No. 11 — questioned the process.

“How I win this year, your team has to look harder at the qualification system,” said Donald, who believes that performance on the European Tour is weighed too heavily than performance in PGA events.

One of Montgomerie’s selections was Italian Edoardo Molinari, who won in Europe on Sunday.

When Donald was asked if his strong play on the front nine of the PGA Barclays Championship had something to do with his selection he said: “I’m not sure if Monte was even watching.”
