The Senate has a unique body

Is the U.S. Senate like a transgendered person? You’ll have to ask Rep. Barney Frank, D-Mass.

Frank, who is not known for being diplomatic in his choice of words, spoke at a Capitol Hill rally Thursday for equal employment rights for transgenders, and he remained true to his reputation.

“It has come about that a common feeling among transgenders is that they say that they are trapped in the wrong body,” Frank said. “A lot of times we feel like that in the House when things go to the Senate. A lot of legislation gets trapped in the wrong body.”

Frank conceded that some people may find transgendered people a bit different, but they ought to get over it. “Nobody is asking employers to have dinner with them or take them to the movies,” Frank said. “We are just asking to give them opportunity to have a job.”
