Teatro Goldoni turned its new media room into a private theater Thursday night, as 60 guests watched Ted Leonsis’s latest film, “Kicking It.” (You’ll recall that the film — which takes a look at homeless soccer players and their journey to the Cape Town 2006 Homeless World Cup — recently made its premiere at the Sundance Film Festival and it is now headed to the Tribeca Film Festival.)
After the screening, guests dined on grouper, filet mignon and lots of Italian wine, and then joined a Q&A with “Kicking It” producer Jack Davies, writer and director Susan Koch, and Leonsis. Guests included Michael Powell, Steve Case, Mark Ein, Catherine Wyler, Calvin Cafritz, Herb Miller, Mark Lerner and Jose Garcia, who just recently became a part-owner of the restaurant.

Wyler, whose father, William, was a three-time Oscar winner, produced “Memphis Belle” and had this to say about the film: “When you read what the movie is about you think it’s crazy. When you see it, you realize it makes perfect sense and … combines the best of the human spirit and sports.”
