Three Nationals players opted for free agency on Thursday after the club outrighted them to Triple-A Syracuse. Right-handed relievers Chad Cordero and Ryan Wagner and infielder Pete Orr are now off the 40-man roster. Cordero, second in team history with 128 saves, underwent surgery for a torn labrum July 8. The Nats also declined to pick up a $5 million contract option for outfielder Wily Mo Pena, who then exercised his own $2 million player option.
