Quick note from Nationals Park

The second half of the MLB season is under way with the Chicago Cubs leading the Nationals 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning on Thursday night. Some news to report on the Nats’ starting rotation for this four-game series. Left-handed pitcher Scott Olsen has been scratched from his scheduled start Friday night due to tightness in his left lat muscle.

The Nats will be especially cautious with Olsen considering he missed six weeks with a sore shoulder earlier this season. We’ll find out after tonight’s game if Olsen is just being pushed back to Monday or if the injury will cost him a start or two. Right-hander Craig Stammen gets the nod for Friday’s game agains the Cubs. The Saturday and Sunday pitchers remain Jordan Zimmermann and then Garrett Mock – just recalled officially from Triple-A Syracuse today.
