The 2008 presidential campaign has been filled with unfortunate moments and regrettable quotes. (Bill Clinton’s “This whole thing is the biggest fairy tale I’ve ever seen.”) But one politician is sticking by one of his most controversial quotes.
In a Christian Science Monitor breakfast with reporters Wednesday, DNC Chairman Howard Dean was reminded that he once referred to Republicans as “brain-dead.” But Dean didn’t use the occasion to distance himself from the statement, saying — with a chuckle — that he was “just making a clinical diagnosis.”
