Ten vs. $10 beer

Critics of President Bush are quick to assign him blame for such things as high gas prices, the botched relief effort following Hurricane Katrina, the war in Iraq and on and on. But add to the list one more modern-day woe that the Bush administration is responsible for: high beer prices.

That’s according to Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder, who said as much during the rock band’s Thursday show in Camden, N.J. Vedder’s never been a fan of the Bush administration — he’s written several anti-Bush songs, and fans have previously reported seeing Vedder stomp on a Bush mask onstage — and his latest critique is in keeping with a long line of grievances.

Upon learning that Camden’s Susquehanna Bank Center was charging $10 for beer that night (turns out it was actually $12), an exasperated Vedder said: “$10 beer? $10 a beer? I guess that’s one more thing we have to blame George Bush for.”
