Robinson’s traffic stop not so tweet

This is the point we’ve reached with social media: An indiscretion not only chronicled on Twitter, but then apologized for later in lieu of a news conference.

On Tuesday afternoon, New York Knicks guard Nate Robinson, with New Jersey Nets rookie Terrence Williams riding along side, was pulled over in the Bronx. During the encounter, Robinson posted to his Twitter account: “Cops pulled me over cuz my windows were 2 dark (but my windows were down) lol how funny is that.”

He followed up later with another classic: “Iam still pulled over and its been 35 min they have me sit in my truck like I dnt have s#*+2 do lol.”

Apparently, no one is laughing. Robinson, 25, was in fact driving with a suspended license, and was promptly arrested.

Once his booking was complete, Robinson deleted his earlier tweets and proceeded as if seated in front of a microphone.

“To All My Tweeps: I was irresponsible earlier when I tweeted about being pulled over.”

“I thought it was for tinted windows but turns out I had an unpaid ticket and I wasn’t aware the ticket had been mailed to my Seattle address”

“This resulted to a suspended license.”

“I apologize to the Knicks, my family and fans.”

“I also want to thank the NYPD especially the arresting officer. He was fair and helped process me quickly.”

“I promise to get this all cleared up.”

It’s a nice touch. But one has to wonder whether the Knicks would like the restricted free agent to clear out his locker.
