Bush: Send Jessica Simpson to DNC

Master Plan

In congratulating the New York Giants on the South Lawn of the White House on Wednesday afternoon, President Bush finally offered an idea that just might boost the GOP’s flagging prospects in the fall elections.

“We’re going to send Jessica Simpson to the Democratic National Convention,” he joked. (the blonde pop star, you may remember, was viewed as nothing but bad luck for her beau, Dallas Cowboys quarterback and Giant rival Tony Romo, whenever she showed up to games).

Bush’s comments came immediately after he mentioned the Redskins and the Cowboys, only to hear loud boos from the raucous crowd of Giants fans. “I’m a good sport,” the president said about his home-state Cowboys.

The New York partisans also cackled when he referred to the New England Patriots’ “perfect season.”

“We have a few things in common,” said Bush of Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning. “Eli has a father and brother in the same business he’s in. But sometimes the press are skeptical…”

The president said Manning had no advice on Jenna Bush’s upcoming wedding, despite having just gotten married himself. “I wasn’t the father of the bride,” Manning told him.

The Giants traveled to Washington via train, and spent the morning visiting injured troops at Walter Reed Army Medical Center before coming to the White House. “We received inspiration from them, and it’s an honor to be with them,” said Coach Tom Coughlin.
