Baltimore is the epicenter of the lacrosse universe this weekend

John Vassallo the networks executive producer of lacrosse will be in town this weekend for all the action at M&T Stadium and he told me “We know how important lacrosse is to the people of
Maryland
and we are going to do the Final Four with as much coverage that we would the NCAA Basketball Final Four. There is no better venue or more knowledgeable fans then will get this weekend in Baltimore and with Quint Kessenich who is the John Madden of lacrosse and a local product of Johns Hopkins we know we will have a big audience.”Vassallo on the growth of the sport: “We will have close to 60,000 people at M&T Bank Stadium for the Final Four and the Championship game. It will be done all in HD and now you find lacrosse popping in the mid west, out in Colorado and it might just be the fastest growing sport on college campuses nationwide.”

Lacrosse has become the most popular sport on ESPNU.

CSTV will share in the lacrosse spotlight this weekend with monster coverage Sunday. They call it Championship Sunday as they will broadcast three NCAA lacrosse championships. 

CSTV’s coverage will begin with the NCAA Division III Men’s Championship at 1:30 p.m. ET, and the Division II Men’s Championship at 4:30 p.m. ET, presented on CSTV by Old Spice, live from M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore .  The finale of the day will be the NCAA Division I Women’s Lacrosse Championship from Franklin Field in Philadelphia at 7:00 p.m. ET.

13-12 in overtime a year ago to capture its first Division III title.  The Division II Championship pairs the National Champion of the previous two seasons Le Moyne (

).  Mercyhurst will play in the title game for the first time in school history.   The Division I Women’s Championship will feature the winners of the two semi-finals games to be played today with  hometown favorite Penn faces Northwestern and an ACC showdown caps the days action in Philly when Virginia  and Duke face-off.
