Caps defenseman Mike Green has been without his trusty Easton Stealth hockey sticks since Game 1 of the Pittsburgh series — the ones that helped him score 31 goals this season. Instead, with his particular mold no longer produced by the company and his entire batch broken, he has struggled to adjust to a new model, the S17.
But after making his plight known Monday, Green was inundated with offers from fans, friends of friends and even a reporter to ship him their own Stealths.

“They’re coming out of everywhere,” Green said Monday.
It remains to be seen if any are up to his standards — a tweaked version of the Stealth endorsed by Colorado Avalanche star Joe Sakic. If not, Green has one last Stealth remaining — the one he sent to the Hall-of-Fame after breaking the NHL record for most games with a goal by a defenseman in February. He’ll decide whether or not to use that one at the morning skate. Otherwise, it’s back to the S17.
Gonchar will be a game-time decision
Penguins defenseman Sergei Gonchar, injured on a knee-to-knee hit by Alex Ovechkin in Game 4, skated during Pittsburgh’s morning practice in Canonsburg, Pa., on Tuesday. His status for Game 7 is unknown, but he did tell reporters that he would be a “game-time decision.”
Quote of the Day
“The star power is there and they haven’t underperformed. It’s not like you’re playing in the Super Bowl and the best running back in the league is going seven carries for 12 yards. There’s no disappointment in here. Alex [Ovechkin] has six points in the last two games.”
