Guys aren’t doing all the gawking on Capitol Hill these days. Only 24 hours after Shakira wowed ’em at a news conference, Richard Gere was back in town to testify before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on the situation in Tibet. (Gere is, of course, the chairman of the board of the International Campaign for Tibet.)

Also spotted Wednesday on the Hill: Wayne Newton, who checked into the Ritz Carlton Pentagon City for his stay.

And in other VIP/celebrity news:

» The Source by Wolfgang Puck is bursting on the scene as a true power spot. On Tuesday night alone, diners could have seen Attorney General Michael Mukasey, celebrity defense lawyer William R. “Billy” Martin, “Da Vinci Code” author Dan Brown and philanthropist Catherine Reynolds.

» And John Legend must love D.C., because the R&B crooner is back, only a couple of weeks after testifying on behalf of more arts funding. This time, he’s performing at Fight for Children’s School Night fundraiser at the Washington Convention Center.
