Many games have been played during the ongoing global warming debate. Now, count the name game among them. At the National Press Club on Monday, Arthur Robinson, Ph.D., of the Oregon Institute of Science and Medicine gave a speech to highlight OISM’s Petition Project, which lists scientists who reject claims of human-caused global warming. One name in particular stood out.
Robinson conceded that in reviewing the petition signatures, his team came across the name of “Geri Halliwell, Ph.D.” It seemed like it might be time to call upon Dr. Ginger Spice for her opinion about the real causes of temperature increases, but fate intervened. Robinson said a 15-year-old girl sheepishly admitted to using the singer’s name instead of her own. Halliwell is not alone, however: Robinson conceded that out of about 32,000 signatures, 1,000 names are currently under inquiry, including some duplicate names and some scientists who have died.
