The Nationals announced a reduction in ticket prices in locations throughout Nationals Park for the 2009 season on Wednesday.

Coming off a 102-loss year — the most in Major League Baseball — the Nats decreased season-ticket prices for 7,500 seats, including 3,400 in the stadium’s lower bowl. Individual ticket prices dropped $10 or more in 4,500 seats, including 3,000 in the lower bowl.

Fans will still pay more for 18 “premium” games this season, including the home opener against the world champion Philadelphia Phillies on April 13, an entire series against the Boston Red Sox in June and three of four games against the Chicago Cubs in July. But those “premium” prices have also dipped from last year.

The Nats are taking a novel approach to the series with Boston — tickets to the Red Sox series are currently available only to Nats season-ticket holders.

Ticket prices range from as little as $5 (day-of-game Grandstand Seats) to $325 (Lexus President’s Seats).
