The Nationals lost 7-2 to the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, setting the record for longest losing streak since the team moved to Washington in 2005 at 10 games.
Seth Smith, Brad Hawpe and Ian Stewart homered for the Rockies. Lastings Milledge was 2-for-4 with an RBI double for the Nats.

Washington also traded right-handed reliever Luis Ayala to the New York Mets for shortstop Anderson Hernandez. Ayala, one of the Nats top relief pitchers in 2005 (2.66 ERA) and 2007 (3.19 ERA), had struggled this year (1-8, 5.77 ERA). The Nats also recalled pitcher Marco Estrada from Triple-A Columbus.
