What do Washington women do at lunch? Sometimes, they work on their flower-arrangement skills. Some top area socialites and power lunchers headed to the Japanese Embassy Monday for a lunch hosted by Hanayo Kato, the wife of Japanese Ambassador Ryozo Kato. Attendees included Diane Negroponte, Madame Xie, Martha Ann Alito, Maureen Scalia, Ina Ginsbug, Kathy Kemper, Isabel Ernst, Diane Bodman and Ann Johnson.
The lunch featured an ikebana demonstration, which highlights the art of Japanese flower arranging. Most of the woman confessed that, while they can arrange dinners and parties, they’re no good at arranging flowers … except Ernst, who was the day’s ikebana champ.
