Redskins-Giants report

Impact player Cornerback Josh Wilson’s best work came in the red zone. He intercepted a pass in the end zone to stop one series, and his hit on D.J. Ware at the goal line forced Ware to bobble the ball, leading to an overturned call of a touchdown.

Under the radar

Quarterback Rex Grossman threw two interceptions in the first quarter, but neither hurt Washington. Thereafter, he picked apart New York’s secondary, finding open receivers all day — at times doing so under duress. He posted a 112.6 passer rating after the third series.

Did you notice …

Wide receiver Jabar Gaffney? The best word to describe him: professional. He runs good routes, has good hands and gets solid yardage. There’s nothing spectacular about him. On Sunday, he caught six passes for 85 yards and did a good job after the catch.

Sidelines

The Giants consistently bit on the play-action fakes, and it cost them, leaving open passing lanes. Coach Tom Coughlin never gave the run a real chance; he also made a poor decision to challenge a clear first-half interception.

The Redskins did not run the ball well, but they stayed committed to the ground, and that made a difference in the play-action game. Defensive coordinator Jim Haslett’s crew bothered Eli Manning all game.
