Nothing good can come from this

Sometimes it’s good to get an outsider’s perspective. After all, as a Redskins fan living in the D.C. area, you tend to focus on the negative. That’s what happens when a team makes the playoffs three times in 18 years under an owner who became the poster child for meddling with his front office and firing anyone who wouldn’t let him do so.

But this is a new era under Mike Shanahan. Even at 5-7 there must be something good from the 2010 season for the Redskins to use as a building block for next year, right? OK, maybe not.

“They are consistently bad at all three phases of the game: offense, defense and special teams,” NBC football analyst Rodney Harrison said. “Offensively, they’re turning the ball over: interceptions, fumbles. Defensively, they’re scared, they’re soft and they don’t want to tackle anybody. Special teams-wise, they’re giving up blocked punts. Just terrible. … [Players are] planning vacations and saying, ‘Hey, I don’t want to play anymore. I want to protect myself for next year.’?”
