Archbishop Spalding senior first baseman-designated hitter Chris Huisman has been swinging the bat quite well, as the four-year starter led the Cavaliers to a five-game winning streak.

“Captain Heinz [Huisman] is very athletic and very solid defensively,” Spalding baseball coach Steve Miller said. “He doesn?t play scared, and his offensive game is starting to really develop.”

Huisman, who is headed to Johns Hopkins, is hitting a team-leading .563, with 18 hits in 32 at-bats. He has also recorded four home runs, four doubles and 12 RBIs.

In a 6-4 win over John Carroll, Huisman hit a game-winning, two-run homer. He also hit a solo home run in a 4-2 victory over St. Paul in nine innings.
