After Navy allowed an average of 39.5 points during its six-game losing streak, Midshipmen defensive coordinator Buddy Green changed things up Saturday against Troy, moving up to the press box level for the first time since 2007. The result was inarguable, at least during the part of the game that mattered. By the time Navy went into halftime with a 35-0 lead, the Trojans had just 109 yards of total offense, rendering the 215 they gained in the final two quarters totally meaningless.
“At first it was kind of hard because you usually look at Coach Green for the signals, and then you look to the sideline and you don’t see him,” senior defensive end Jabaree Tuani said.

The move gave Green a fresh perspective and provided a spark for a unit that Navy coach Ken Niumatalolo admittedly had called “much maligned.”
After a measly 11 points in two games, perhaps Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan should consider doing something similar.
