For the second time this offseason, D.C. United added a Georgia-native who played at South Carolina, selecting forward Blake Brettschneider with the third pick in the second round of the MLS Supplemental Draft.
Brettschneider, a 21-year-old from Lilburn, Ga., was the Conference USA co-MVP this fall, with seven goals and ten assists for the Gamecocks (13-7-2), who won the Conference USA title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to Michigan.

Josh Wolff, who United picked up in the re-entry draft in December, is from Stone Mountain, Ga., and played three years at South Carolina.
D.C. passed on its second pick in the supplemental draft, which is more of a forum for glorified invitations to help fill training camp numbers, since many of the players are unlikely to earn contracts and find their way onto a final roster.
