Gotta Love how rare a 30-30 is in hoops

Former Baltimore Bullets forward Stan Love so admired the rebounding and outlet passing wizardry of teammate Wes Unseld that he named his son after the NBA Hall of Famer.

On Friday night, Kevin Wesley Love, all grown up at 6-foot-10 and 260 pounds and center of the Minnesota Timberwolves, achieved something his namesake never accomplished, scoring 31 points and grabbing 31 rebounds.

It was the 131st time an NBA player had posted a 30-30. But here’s how much the game has changed — it was the first 30-30 since 1982.

Wilt Chamberlain did it 103 times. Eighteen other players have accomplished the feat, including three from Bullets/Wizards franchise — Walt Bellamy (twice in 1964-65), Gus Johnson (1971) and Elvin Hayes (1973).
