For the fourth year in a row, congressional Republicans beat their Democratic opponents in the annual Congressional Baseball Game held at Nationals Park.
The final score was 31-11, but the real victory from Wednesday’s game was the $2.2 million raised for charities.
The GOP started strong with a lead of 4-0, but by the end of the second inning, Democrats were in the lead by a score of 5-4.
It was around this time that climate activists stormed the field and were quickly apprehended and arrested by Capitol Police.
By the end of the fourth inning, Republicans had snatched the lead back, 9-5, and they extended their lead from there, climbing to a 20-run lead, in which the game would end.

The GOP team got a special visit from MLB icon Steve Garvey, who is running for Senate in California and hoping to defeat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
Proceeds from the game benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington, the Washington Literacy Center, the Washington Nationals Philanthropies, and the United States Capitol Police Memorial Fund.
