Bob Bradley has finally moved on from the failed Robbie Findley experiment. The U.S. national team coach took the first real step in preparation for the next World Cup by naming four deserving forwards to the team’s lengthy January training camp — despite a combined two appearances and one goal on their international resumes.
Eighteen-year-old Juan Agudelo showed he was a hope for the future with a superb game-winning goal in his U.S. debut at South Africa last month. Teal Bunbury, 20, who also made his debut in that match, could’ve chosen to play for Canada but prefers to fight hard for a U.S. spot.
Justin Braun, 23, still hasn’t played in a U.S. match, but he was in last year’s camp and responded with a fantastic MLS season. If Chris Wondolowski, who might normally be past the window at age 27, does the same, he might bring some much needed scoring help to the U.S. and topple his own MLS-best 18 goals last season.
