Redskins-Patriots report

Impact player Tight end Rob Gronkowski finished with six catches for 160 yards, with a healthy portion of those yards coming after the catch. At 6-foot-6, Gronkowski was difficult to stop even if the coverage was tight. He was able to get separation by using his body well.

Under the radar

Fullback Darrel Young had one of his better days blocking after a couple early missed attempts. Most of the day the Redskins relied on Young’s lead blocks to open lanes for running back Roy Helu. It worked as the Redskins rushed for 170 yards.

Did you notice …

How lazy quarterback Tom Brady got with his feet? A couple times his feet were pointing one way and he was throwing another, leading to an incompletion. But on the 24-yard TD pass to Wes Welker, Brady’s feet bailed him out of a bad situation.

From the sidelines

Man, Bill Belichick has some work to do with that defense if the Patriots want to win a title. They had no answer for the Redskins’ offense. When they rushed five, they were beaten. When they rushed three, they were beaten.

Kyle Shanahan and the offensive staff adjusted their game plan after losing two of their best players to suspensions. They ran inside a lot more than usual. They were aggressive on both sides of the ball.
