in a late Saturday night appearance at the first GI Film Festival at the Ronald Reagan Building, co-hosting the Memorial Day concert on Sunday night and appearing at the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday.

On Saturday, Sinise appeared after the festival’s showing of “Forrest Gump,” in which he plays Lt. Dan.

It’s from that role that Sinise’s band, the Lt. Dan Band, takes its name. The actor has done more than 50 USO appearances with his bandmates.

Also appearing at Sunday’s concert: country singer Josh Turner, who got a private Capitol tour on Saturday, and R&B legend Natalie Cole. Cole was overheard by a Yeas & Nays spy during sound check first criticizing her backup singers for being flat, then saying they sounded “too white-bread.”
