Will fans at the Virgin Mobile Festival on Aug. 10 be chanting “Kanye Sucks!” as their counterparts at the Bonnaroo festival did last weekend? Not if the Virgin Festival promoters have anything to say about it.

Playing a coveted late-night slot at the big festival in rural Tennessee, hip-hop superstar Kanye West had fans irate when he appeared for his set almost two hours late — at 4:30 a.m.! After taking the stage, which featured a glow-in-the-dark spaceship, he was roundly booed by the 70,000 in attendance, according to news reports.

Kanye is planning to stage his full-length performance, complete with spaceship, to close day two of the Virgin Festival on Aug. 10 at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Seth Hurwitz of local concert promoter I.M.P. Productions says there won’t be a problem, even considering that Baltimore imposes curfews on his event that don’t exist on Tennessee farmland.

“All the setup issues were all worked out with Kanye before he was confirmed to play the Virgin Mobile Festival, knowing that we wanted to present his full show,” Hurwitz told us.
