After George Mason won tough road games at VCU and Northern Iowa last week, its fans expected the Patriots to be ranked. After all, the Patriots (23-5) have the longest winning streak in Division I (13 games).
But the Patriots came up just short the Associated Press and ESPN coaches polls, leading to outrage in Mason Nation.

But there was good reason for the supposed “snub.” All of the teams ranked from No. 17 to No. 25 in the Associated Press went undefeated last week, combining for an 18-0 record.
If you’re a voter, do you knock a team already in the top 25 out when it wins two games? Of course not.
Last week was unusual. In each of the previous six weeks, teams ranked from No. 17 to No. 25 combined for at least five losses. In the second week of January, teams at the bottom of the rankings went a combined 7-9.
So calm down George Mason fans. If the Patriots continue winning, their time will come.
