Of the eight Miami players who will miss the Hurricanes’ opener Monday at Maryland, quarterback Jacory Harris is getting top billing. But Miami is not likely to miss Harris nearly as much as several other players. Other players out include linebacker Sean Spence and safety Ray-Ray Armstrong, both second-team All-ACC players, along with three defensive linemen who have a combined 27 career starts. Instead, Miami will open with three down linemen who did not start a game for the Hurricanes last year.
Miami also will be without wideout Travis Benjamin, who was second on the team in receptions (43) and receiving yards (793). In his place is Allen Hurns, who didn’t catch a pass last year.

As for the loss of Harris, he’ll be replaced by Stephen Morris, who completed 18 of 30 passes for 286 yards and threw the winning touchdown pass in the final minute of Miami’s 26-20 win over Maryland last year in his starting debut.
This is good news for Maryland and especially for quarterback Danny O’Brien, who will face a green Miami defense.
