No future for Iraq?

We couldn’t help but do a double take when we saw this headline on an e-mail late last week: “The Future of Iraq — Canceled.”

Wow. We knew things were precarious over there, but is it really that bad?

Well, turns out the subject line was in reference to an event by the Henry Jackson Society that was to host Mithal al-Alusi from the Iraqi House of Representatives.

The e-mail went on to explain that “Due to the breakdown of the biometrics machine at the Baghdad embassy, Mr. al-Alusi has been unable to get a visa at this time.”
