TBS scores nearly 10 million viewers for the LDS

It has been a good week for TBS and TNT in their exclusive coverage of Major League Baseball’s (MLB) American League Division Series (ALDS).

It should come as no surprise that the record setting rating would come from last nights Game 5 between the Detroit Tigers and New York Yankees with 9,720,000 million total viewers and a 6.2 U.S. HH Ratingmaking it the most watched LDS game in cable television history and the most watched LDS game on television since 2005 (Game 5 Yankees/Angels). Also, based on metered market ratings, TBS was the highest-rated network on Thursday in cable and number three in all of television.

The game delivered strong audiences locally as well in their DMA’s:

  • New York DMA averaged a 18.3  Household rating
  • Detroit DMA averaged a 27.6 Household rating

TBS concludes its exclusive Divisional Series coverage TODAY with two pivotal NLDS Game 5 match ups; beginning with the Arizona Diamondbacks atMilwaukee Brewers  at 5:00p.m.  followed by the St. Louis Cardinals at Philadelphia Phillies 8:30 p.m.

The Phillies and the Cards game will have a strong national draw. While it will no doubt pull good ratings, they will fall short of the Yankees-Tigers game from last night.

Fox starts coverage of the American League Championship Series Saturday with Texas hosting Detroit time is still TBA while TBS will have exclusive coverage of the MLB’s National League Championship Series on Sunday, Oct. 9 at 4 p.m.
