They said it

London Fletcher

On the first play of the game: “That’s one play, there’s still a lot of football left so you think we can recover from this and then when it happened again and again and again and again, you’re just like, ‘Whoa.’ You just don’t think it’s going to continue to happen.”

On Michael Vick: “I played against him a lot when I was in St. Louis and he’s a much better player than he was then, a much better quarterback. Before he couldn’t make those throws and do the things in the pocket. He always could run, but now no one else has a weapon like him in the National Football League.”

Carlos Rogers

On changes Philly made to its game plan: “They were just leaving guys out by themselves, spreading the whole offense. A lot of times we got double jams on guys last time because they had guys tight in. This time they didn’t allow us to get double jams. It was us jamming them one on one and turning them over to the safety.”

DeAngelo Hall

On the game: “We got embarrassed from start to finish. Just got embarrased. It was frustrating to go out on national TV and play the way we played. Anybody who thought we had a chance to go to the playoffs… anybody watching the game thought that was a joke. We got embarrassed.”

On the difference from last time: “I don’t know. That’s hard to tell right this second. It all seems like a blur now, feels like I’m in a dream. I don’t feel they did anything we didn’t prepare for. I don’t think you can prepare for Michael Vick. It’s tough to account for a quarterback not only throwing the ball but running the ball. That’s what made him tough years and years ago and it’s what makes him tough now.”

Brian Orakpo

On rushing Michael Vick: “You try to be aggressive, you see it and he kills you with stepping up in the pocket and running past the spy. If you try to sit back, he’ll throw it to those receivers that he has. It’s hard to play that type of offense when Vick is full-go like that. They just outplayed us, flat out.”

Mike Shanahan

On the first play of the game: “There aren’t too many guys that can throw the ball, I’m not sure how far it was in the air, 65 yards. A lto of receivers will judge that ball a little faster than safeties and that is just the nature of the game. Very few guys can buy that time and take the ball down the field like that. It was a great play on their part, both by the quarterback and receiver.”

On the game: “We are embarrassed as an organization, for our players and our team. Hopefully we respond accordingly.”

Quarterback Donovan McNabb

On the emotion of his new contract: “At this point I’m angry. Everyone in this locker room is. The contract is great. I’ve always said I’ve wanted to be here and I look forward to being here for more yeas but therre’s nothing  that I can do right now. I can only focus on the present time and at this time I’m just looking forward to watching film, moving on and getting ready for Tennessee.”

More on the contract: “That’s one question I won’t have to answer anymore. This game, I’m embarrassed.”
