1. Both Jammal Brown (hip) and Stephon Heyer (ankle) should be ready to play Sunday, coach Mike Shanahan said. Part of me wonders if this week was more about finding out whether or not Heyer could play so they could give Brown some time off. Based on how Brown has been moving, if Heyer is healthy, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him start.
2. Shanahan said they have talked about letting Brown use this week and then the bye to heal. “We’re not really sure what direction we’re going to go,” he said. “That’s something we have entertained. Rotating last week is an indication that he does have a problem right now with that area. We’ve got a bye week coming up so that’s a big plus.”
3. Safety Kareem Moore said he does not have an infection in his knee. Shanahan had made reference to that on Thursday. Moore called the swelling in his knee “normal” for what he’s endured, with surgery and then playing entire games. He said he was helped by not playing every play last week, though “it was kind of frustrating.”

4. Worried that the Redskins will overlook Detroit? Been a topic this week. London Fletcher: “I wouldn’t say we overlooked them [last season]. I think where we were at last year as a team mentally was totally different. We had a lot going on, to say the least. We’re a different team this year.”
5. Every time the Redskins lose to a bad team, everyone says they overlooked that team. I say: they just haven’t been that good, so naturally they’ll lose to a bad team once in a while. Not like the Redskins have been making the playoffs every year.
6. One big difference is Mike Shanahan. Yes, they’ve played a lot of close games and lost at St. Louis. But the belief in him is so unbelievably different than it was in Jim Zorn. That helps in close games.
